25,000 PR1MA houses in Iskandar
KULAIJAYA: DATUK Seri Najib Razak yesterday announced that 25,000 houses will be built in the Iskandar Malaysia development area under the 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA).
The units will provide affordable, quality and comfortable houses to eligible Malaysians.
The prime minister made the announcement during the balloting for 201 PR1MA houses at the Raya Putra Hall in Bandar Putra here. Najib picked the first successful applicant at the event.
He said Bandar Nusajaya was poised to be a key commercial, entertainment, education and residential hub for the southern region. Thus, the Nusantara PR1MA houses priced at RM250,000 were much sought after.
He said under PR1MA, eligible applicants would get more than 20 per cent discount, being able to buy the house at RM199,000.
The new houses are available to eligible applicants under the government’s transformation plan.
“We made surveys and know what the people need. They want affordable, comfortable and quality houses in prime areas.
“Thus, nine locations in the Johor Baru district — Perling, Tampoi, Majidee, Danga Bay Waterfront, Bandar Layangkasa, Plentong, Larkin, Tebrau and Masai — have been identified.”
At the event, five memorandums of understanding were signed and sealed between PR1MA and Johor-based developer partners.
Iskandar Waterfront Holdings Sdn Bhd will develop 5,000 units in Danga Bay, Plentong and Masai; Casa Green City Sdn Bhd 3,300 units in Tebrau, Larkin and part of Plentong; Aturan Prisma Sdn Bhd and Cemerlang Land Sdn Bhd 1,500 units in Larkin; Cahaya Bumimas Sdn Bhd 2,500 units in Bandar Layangkasa in Pasir Gudang; and Tentu Canggih Holdings Sdn Bhd and PIJ Property Development Sdn Bhd 1,500 units in Plentong.
PR1MA will develop more than 10,000 housing units on more than 80ha of government land in Tampoi.
Najib said the houses would be built in prime locations with good road connectivity and public amenities.
A comprehensive range of services, like community halls, playgrounds, kindergartens, mosques, other houses of worship, 1Malaysia clinics and Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia, will be provided.
Construction of the units will start late this year and is scheduled for completion by late 2015.
PR1MA has identified 50 locations in key urban centres nationwide and is in the process of identifying suitable land.
Those present included Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman and PR1MA chairman Datuk Seri Jamaludin Jarjis.
