IPOH: The Cabinet will decide on the deadline for the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) 2.0 applications at its meeting today.

“We have received 6.7 million applications before Dec 31,” said Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah.

“We need to vet the list and remove previous recipients who have re-applied,” he said.

“Applications received after Dec 31 are being processed by the Inland Revenue Board, and we will try to give out the aid this month,’’ he told reporters after presenting the RM500 BR1M 2.0 vouchers to 972 recipients at SK Tanjung Rambutan here yesterday.

Ahmad Husni said a total of 420,000 applicants received the BR1M 2.0 vouchers valued at RM210mil from Saturday to Monday.

“I also believe the BR1M aid will be a long-term government initiative,” he said.
