The government’s 1Malaysia People’s Housing Scheme (PR1MA) is expanding to Malacca and Terengganu with a proposal for the housing projects to be tabled in the upcoming PR1MA meeting.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said the government is currently actively conducting market studies to identify the demand as well as feasibility studies on both of these states.

“We will consider the proposals for PR1MA projects in Malacca and Terengganu in the next PR1MA meeting. The proposed developments are apartments and terrace houses.

“Since it is at its preliminary stage, PR1MA has not fixed any selling value for the proposed houses,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.

Shahidan replied to a question by Sim Tong Him (DAP-Kota Melaka) who wanted to know on whether PR1MA projects will be implemented in Malacca.

Shahidan said as per the government’s assurance, the PR1MA houses are priced 20% lower than the market price where its focuses is still on big cities and suburbs.

Hence, for 2013 and 2014, the government has approved 80,000 units of PR- 1MA houses in Perak, Kedah and Penang ranging from RM100,000 to RM400,000 depending on the location and specifications, Shahidan added.
