SME Financing Fund FAQ

SMEs can apply for easy access loans of maximum RM1 million, handled by SME Bank starting from January 2012.

Q1 What products does SME Bank offer?
SME Bank offers an extensive product to cater to the SMEs which includes Business Loans, Contract Financing and Business Premise Financing Scheme.

Q2 What is the classification of SMEs?
SMEs are classified according to Micro Business, Small Business and Medium Sized Business.

Q3 How do I apply for a loan?
It all depends on the type of loan you are applying for. For more details about loans you may visit our branch or call our Customer Service Contact Centre at 1800-88-3131 during business hours.

Q4 SME Bank offers both Sha’riah-based and conventional financing facilities. Are the profit rates of the Sha’riah financing and the interest rates of the conventional financing competitive with each other?
Both the profit rates and the interest rates are competitive between these types of financing.

Q5 Our project is located in Melaka. Should we submit our application for financing to SME Bank Head Office in Kuala Lumpur or to SME Bank regional office in Melaka for faster processing?
The application should be submitted to the regional office for processing. If the applicant’s main office is located in Kuala Lumpur while the project is located in another state, then the application may be submitted to SME Bank Head Office in Kuala Lumpur.

Q6 How to apply for the Graduate Entrepreneur Incubator Program?
There are two ways of application:-

  2. Fill up the graduate entrepreneur program’s form and send to:

Q7 I am running an export import business. Am I eligible to apply for a business loan?
SME Bank is a development financial institution mandated with the role of nurturing and meeting the needs of Malaysian-owned and controlledSmall and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The SME Bank does not finance Malaysian companies doing business overseas. However, you may refer to the EXIM Bank who would provide such services.

Q10 What is SME Bank business hours operation?
Our business hours operation starts from 8.30 a.m till 5.30 p.m (Monday to Thursday) and 8.30 a.m till 4.45 p.m (Friday). We are closed during lunch hours from 1.00 p.m to 2.00 p.m (Monday to Thursday), 12.30 p.m to 2.45 p.m (Friday). Our Customer Service Contact Centre is available during lunch hour.
