KUANTAN (Bernama) — The Social Security Organisation (Socso) is mulling a proposal to compel contractors who win tenders for short-term projects to register their workers with Socso.

Socso deputy chief executive (Operations) Datuk Dr Mohammed Aman Aziz Mohammed said before this, they said they were not aware of the need to register workers with Socso.

“Their understanding that only companies which operate continuously need to register and contribute is wrong. As so long as there are workers, they are required to register with Socso.

“It is also to ensure their workers get protection under the Social Security Act,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after a dialogue session with such contractors here Wednesday.
