Tar Ah Wah, 66, and his wife Ler Kim Eng, 64, recently received news that they would be given a monthly contribution from Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (Perkeso) or Socso following the death of their daughter, a snatch-theft victim who had succumbed to her injuries.

Tar Bee Lin, 39, was attacked by a snatch thief last month. She died at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital, here, three days after she was robbed at the Taman Century bus stop in Johor Baru, at 8.30am.

She was riding her motorcycle to work when the snatch thief struck, causing her to fall from the motorcycle.

She then went into a coma, and died three days later from her internal injuries.

Her aged parents then received news of Socso’s compensation to help alleviate their financial burden.

Kluang Socso manager Zanurin Zakaria said the parents would be entitled to RM882 monthly under the Faedah Pengurusan Mayat scheme.

“They will be receiving the money as soon as the relevant paperwork is completed,” said Zanurin.

Meanwhile, Tar expressed his gratitude toward Perkeso for the compensation.

Bee Lin, who was the third among six siblings, was not married.
